Women's Fitness
Brought to you by ArchangelFitness.com
Archangel Fitness is truly dedicated to the health and welfare of all people.  Unfortunately,
most of the diet and health information out there is geared more toward the "body-building"
image.  For men, that means bigger biceps or shoulders; for women, that means smaller
thighs or butt.  If that is what you are looking for, try the
Global Fitness website.  If you are
trying to change your look, they can help you.  This is not that site.

Archangel Fitness focuses on functional strength, athletic fitness, combat sports and
spiritual development.  Most of the functional strength information out there is more geared
toward the masculine, military section of society.  Many women, even those in the military,
think of diet and fitness as primarily an improvement in how you look.  Most of the diet,
health and fitness books written today are focused in this area of improving your image.
There are too many women who are drop-dead gorgeous and still miserable.

Often, the women's diet/finess industry capitalizes on poor self-image and makes a woman
believe that a smaller butt equals a happier life.
Archangel Fitness believes that as a
woman's athleticism improves (she gets stronger, faster or more physically capable,) she
grows mentally stronger as well.  Archangel Fitness believes that a mom who can now play
with her children for hours, when she used to get winded so easily, does far more for her
self-worth than fitting into Demi Moore's jeans.

How you look
does matter.  Yes, you read that right.  Your appearance is part of who you
are - lets not pretend we don't enjoy looking great and receiving a compliment.  But please
do not confuse skinny with healthy or a smaller dress size with a more useful life.  A healthy
women is a strong woman.  A strong woman can change the world.  The resources listed
below can help you, or the woman in your life, achieve the life that she really wants.  She
wants to know that what she does matters.  She wants to know that she is useful, purposeful,
needed and wanted.  A woman in a wheelchair, when she is mentally strong, can be far
more useful than the skinny model - don't believe me?  Take a look
here.
NoFear Fitness.  A great resource run by Lisa Shaffer in Dallas, TX.  She trains both men
and women.  A great example of a strong, capable woman.  Her demos of kettlebell
exercises are top-notch and is quickly becoming an authority on kettlebell training.

Iron Core - La Jolla.  Iron Core is a Gym in the San Diego area run by Sarah Lurie.  The
mpeg clips on the snatch and clean really help clear up any questions.  Another example of
what we are talking about.
From Russia with Tough Love - Pavel Tsatsouline's kettlebell video designed for women but
so well-done that many kettlebell-tossing men have learned much from it, too.  Look for this
video half-way down the page.
KettlebellFitness.com - This is a dragondoor.com mirror-site run by Andrea DuCane.  She
and DC Maxwell are demonstrators in the "From Russia with Tough Love" video referenced
above.
"Russian Kettlebell Training for Women" is an outstanding article on why women
have as much to gain from strength training as men.  She is also a Stott Pilates and Tango
instructor!  Now that's just cool.
SoCalTrainer.com - Lauren Brooks, RKC has put some great articles on kettlebells for
women on her site.  Check out
"Train Like a Man - Especially if You are a Woman" in our
articles section.
